MRC welcomes new faculty members

The Maryland Robotics Center welcomes three new faculty members:

Dr. Yancy Diaz Mercado is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. His research expertise is in the control and coordination of multi-agent systems using control theory, optimization, and graph theory. He is particularly interested in developing theoretically sound scalable control solutions that enable simple control of large networked systems and apply these to facilitate robot swarm manipulation. Dr Diaz joined MRC on October 11th, 2018. More

Dr. Mark Fuge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on developing machine learning algorithms that learn from and subsequently aid human design and creativity; a mixture of topics that he calls Design Informatics. Dr. Fuge joined MRC on June 14th, 2018. More

Dr. Jae Kun Shim is Associate Professor in Kinesiology in Fischell Department of Bioengineering and also directs Neuromechanics Research Core at the University of Maryland. His current research focus includes robotic solutions for functional recovery of human locomotion in persons with lower extremity amputations and hand and multi-digit actions of people after stroke. He joined MRC on November 10th, 2018. More
