What Funders Look For: Success with Foundations

Dr. Anita Plotinsky
Consultant and former Director
Foundation Center of Washington, D.C.

In an increasingly competitive environment, it is critical to understand the grantseeking process from the funder’s side of the table. This workshop will explore strategies for securing and expanding foundation support for your work, and will provide information about trends and best practices in institutional philanthropy.

The presenter will be Dr. Anita H. Plotinsky, who was the director of the Foundation Center-Washington, DC, from 2000 to 2008. She previously served as executive director of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), and as assistant director for academic programs at the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy. Currently a consultant to national nonprofit organizations, she also teaches grant proposal writing at the George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.
