DoD Research & Engineering Priorities and Development Thursday, October 18, 2012 11:00 a.m. Prince George's Room, Room 1211, Stamp For More Information: Anne Geronimo geronimo@umd.edu Featured Speaker: Alan Shaffer, Principal Deputy, Assistant Secretary of Defense (Research and Engineering), Department of Defense (DoD) Alan Shaffer serves as the Principal Deputy, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He is responsible for formulating, planning, and reviewing the Department’s Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation programs, plans, strategy, priorities, and budget, specifically the science and technology portfolio totaling over $10.5 billion. He will be sharing his insights into the current DoD science and technology strategy, research priorities and future plans at a critical point in the government’s political and fiscal cycles and as the DoD transitions to a new strategic posture and operational footprint.
