Join ISR for a morning event featuring two DARPA program managers who are also alumni: Dr. Reza Ghanadan and Dr. Craig Lawrence. Dr. Ghanadan was a Ph.D. student of Professor John Baras (ECE/ISR) and Dr. Lawrence was a Ph.D. student of Professor André Tits (ECE/ISR).

Our guests will discuss the work in their DARPA offices, and talk with current University of Maryland faculty, looking for synergies that could result in pursuing funding opportunities.

10:00 - 10:30 a.m.
DARPA Defense Sciences Office Presentation

Reza Ghanadan
Program Manager, Defense Sciences Office

The DARPA Defense Sciences Office (DSO) identifies and pursues high-risk, high-payoff fundamental research initiatives across a broad spectrum of science and engineering disciplines – sometimes reshaping existing fields or creating entirely new disciplines – and transforms these initiatives into radically new, game-changing technologies for U.S. national security.

10:30–11:00 a.m.
DARPA Strategic Technology Office Presentation
Craig Lawrence

STO's areas of interest include: Battle Management, Command and Control; Communications and Networks; Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance; Electronic Warfare; Positioning, Navigation, and Timing; and Foundational Strategic Technologies and Systems.
